Arcom's OLYMPUS Development Kit for Linux is shipped with a complete and original copy of Red Hat Linux 8.0 Personal Edition. This is configured and pre-installed onto a 10Gbyte (min.) hard drive along with all the appropriate drivers for the OLYMPUS hardware. The Development Kit offers a ready-to-run, rapid application development environment which really does save engineering time.

The Development Kit includes everything needed by an engineer to get up and running quickly. Each kit contains an OLYMPUS embedded PC single board computer fitted with an 1GHz Intel Pentium III processor, 256MB SDRAM, cables, connectors, power supply, software and an information CD.

To create Linux server products we would encourage you to check out the Red Hat Linux 8.0 Professional Edition or Advanced Server edition. These can be installed and run on Arcom’s OLYMPUS board for high-availability applications.

What is Red Hat Linux 8.0 ?

Red Hat® Linux® is a collection of many different software programs, developed both by Red Hat and other members of the open source community, which are gathered and built to create "Red Hat Linux." All software programs included in Red Hat Linux are PGP or GPG signed, or otherwise authenticated, by Red Hat to indicate that Red Hat built them.

License Issues

Arcom's Development Kit is supplied with original Red Hat Linux 8.0 product. The Development Kit allows you to develop, download and debug your Linux application onto the hard disk drive. The Red Hat Linux 8.0 has been pre-installed and configured to run on the OLYMPUS processor board. A copy of the operating system image is included on the Development Kit CD and may be used to restore the image on the OLYMPUS Development Kit. If you intend to modify and re-distribute the complete product using Red Hat Linux 8.0, you should comply with the trademark requirements listed on the Red Hat web site.
