VIPER Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

The VIPER-UPS serves as an intelligent battery backup power supply for the VIPER or for any of Arcom’s single board computer products. The VIPER-UPS offers a reliable mechanism for maintaining uninterrupted power during brownouts or full power loss from the system. It enables the main processor board to continue normal operation or complete an orderly shutdown and switch off the power in a controlled manner. The VIPER-UPS uses an onboard microcontroller to achieve precision control of the charging profile (trickle and fast charging with temperature compensation), status monitoring and power change over.

The VIPER product is an ultra low power Intel PXA255 RISC based PC104 board designed for control and instrumentation applications. The VIPER-UPS compliments the VIPER by offering a reliable mechanism for extended battery backed operation - 2 hours for normal operation or 18 hours when the VIPER makes use of its standby modes.

The VIPER-UPS is available in two variants: one fitted with the onboard rechargeable NiMH (Nickel metal hydride) battery and one configured for use with an external battery (either NiMH or lead acid battery). This gives you the choice of using a wide operating temperature battery for severe environments.
